Strathmore Minerals President Plans to Move Forward Until New Mexico Uranium Mill Is Permitted
Sarasota, FL (PRWeb) December 4, 2006 -- Strathmore Minerals President David R. Miller told Stockinterview.com, in an online audio interview, "There has to be a new (uranium) mill in New Mexico to revitalize conventional mining. We have a number of properties conducive to underground mining. The key component will be this centrally located mill in the middle of the (Grants Uranium) district."
Miller explained that prior to the twenty-year uranium depression Grants, New Mexico was the center of the uranium world, producing up to 40 percent of all uranium mined in the United States . He pointed out that Kerr McGee's 7000-ton/day mill was one of the largest in the world. According to Miller, Strathmore plans a uranium mill "as small as 2000 tons/day or as large as 5000 tons/day, depending upon whether or not we take on partners."
He said Strathmore Minerals was planning to start environmental studies to "quantify the land." Miller explained, "If it is suitable, we'll continue with the process until we receive a permit to build a mill there." He added that Strathmore Mineral's Roca Honda property in New Mexico would provide the primary feed to the mill. The previous property owner, Kerr-McGee, had planned to feed the company's 7000-ton-day mill with the uranium from Roca Honda.
